- A Senior Advocate of Nigeria and a Human Rights Activist, Femi Falana, has blasted the 114 percent review of the salary of political office holders by the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission, RMAFC.
According to Femi Falana, the lawful monthly salary of members of the Nigerian Senate is about N1 million. However, Femi Falana disclosed that today, Senators awarded themselves around N15 million monthly salary.
Femi Falana revealed that members of the House of Representatives also awarded themselves around N13 million monthly salary for each member in contrast with the lawful monthly salary structure.
Femi Falana said that when there is this talk of 114 percent increment in monthly salary, then it means that each Senator will be looking at around N30 million monthly salary and that of the House of Representatives would be around N24 million.
Although the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission, RMAFC, already confirmed the 114 percent review which they claimed was them simply performing their statutory function, the federal government of Nigeria had already come out to clarify that it has not accented to the 114 percent salary increase.
