Buhari Signs Three Bills Into Law Hours Before End of Tenure

President Muhammadu Buhari has signed the National Assembly Service Pensions Board (Establishment) bill, which will oversee the service pension scheme.

 

Babajide Omoworare, Senior Special Adviser to the President on National Assembly Matters, said in a statement that the bill exempts national assembly personnel from the contributory pension scheme.

 

According to the statement, Buhari also signed the Federal Road Safety Commission Training Institutions (Establishment) bill, which will help with capacity building and training in road traffic administration and safety management.

 

President Buhari also signed the National Commission for Almajiri and Out-of-School Children Education bill, which aims to provide a multimodal education system in Nigeria to combat illiteracy, develop skill acquisition and entrepreneurship programs, and prevent youth poverty, delinquency, and destitution.

 

Earlier on Sunday, Buhari delivered a farewell speech to Nigerians in which he reflected on key aspects of his two-term presidency and apologized for causing them pain through his policies.
