De Gea To Marry Singer Garcia Next Weekend After His Utd Deal Expires
Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea is reportedly set to marry his singer girlfriend next weekend following the expiry of his current £375,000 contract with the club.

No extension has yet been signed with the Red Devils’ starting goalie of the last 12 seasons and United are said to be looking into Inter Milan shot-stopper Andre Onana to replace him.
But de Gea’s mind is going to be focused more on his bride-to-be Edurne Garcia and his wedding guests than his footballing career this time next week, the Spanish reports suggest.
More details of the couple’s ‘big day’ are emerging with claims they have hired an old quarry near the Minorcan port town of Ciutadella for a ‘weekend-long bash.’
De Gea, 32, and Edurne, 37, have a two-year-old daughter called Yanay and began dating 12 years ago shortly after they first met in December 2010 to record a Christmas carol to raise money for cancer kids and their families.
Spanish showbiz reporters Laura Fa and Lorena Vasquez claim between 80 and 100 guests will attend the weekend-long wedding.
They have not said if the footballer and his long-term partner will tie the knot on July 1, the day after de Gea’s current Man United contract runs out, or the following day.
The firm said to be organising everything has been named as ‘La Puta Suegra’, an event planner which has an office in Barcelona and says on its Instagram site it is “available for events and weddings across the world.
The name of the firm in English, if directly translated from Spanish, would be ‘The F****** Mother-in-Law.’
There has not yet been any official comment from the company or de Gea and his girlfriend, who are said to have wanted to keep their plans ‘private.’
The footballer’s last post on Instagram just over a week ago showed him bathing in a turquoise blue sea on holiday. He wrote alongside the snap: ‘Relax. Recharge. Contemplate.’
Edurne, a well-known face in Spain, has continued to live in her home country despite her relationship with David although she has made regular visits to Manchester whenever she has a gap in her busy work schedule.
She performed for Spain in 2015 in the Eurovision Song Contest.
At the time the couple met De Gea was seven months away from signing for Man United for a British transfer record for a goalkeeper of nearly £18million.
Edurne had already cemented her pop singer status by recording four albums after making a name for herself on the Spanish equivalent of Pop Idol five years earlier.
She described her partner as ‘the world’s best father’ shortly after giving birth to their daughter in March 2021.
The name of the youngster is from the Quechua language and translates into English as ‘My Beloved.’

Olympic Women’s Sport To Be Limited To Biological Females
International Olympic Committee (IOC) said on Thursday it was reintroducing testing for gender to determine eligibility to compete in the female category, preventing transgender women from competing.
The screening will mean Olympic women’s sports at the 2028 Los Angeles Games will be limited to biological females, which would also rule out those with differences in sexual development (DSD) from competing.
The IOC is abandoning rules it brought in in 2021, which allowed individual federations to decide their own policy and implement a policy across all sports.
“Eligibility for any female category event at the Olympic Games or any other IOC event, including individual and team sports, is now limited to biological females, determined on the basis of a one‑time SRY gene screening,” the IOC said in a statement.
The test will be carried out through a saliva sample, cheek swab or blood sample.

IOC president Kirsty Coventry said: “The policy we have announced is based on science and has been led by medical experts.
“At the Olympic Games, even the smallest margins can be the difference between victory and defeat.
“So it is absolutely clear that it would not be fair for biological males to compete in the female category. In addition, in some sports it would simply not be safe.”
The IOC is bringing in the new policy after the women’s boxing competition at the 2024 Paris Olympics was rocked by a gender row involving Algerian fighter Imane Khelif and Lin Yu-ting of Taiwan.
Khelif and Lin were excluded from the International Boxing Association’s 2023 world championships after the IBA said they had failed eligibility tests.

However, the IOC allowed them both to compete at the Paris Games, saying they had been victims of “a sudden and arbitrary decision by the IBA”.
Both boxers went on to win gold medals.
Lin has since been cleared to compete in the female category at events run by World Boxing, the body that will oversee the sport at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
Gender testing was first introduced at the 1968 Olympics and last used at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, but then scrapped after criticism from the scientific community

Team Nigeria Departs For Botswana
Team Nigeria will today, Wednesday, March 25, 2026, depart the country for the Lefika International Relays in Gaborone, Botswana, as the nation intensifies its push to qualify for the World Relay Championships later this year.
The Nigerian contingent is scheduled to travel aboard Ethiopian Airlines, with a stopover in Addis Ababa before arriving in Gaborone on March 26.
At the competition, Nigeria will compete in four key events: the men’s 4x100m, mixed 4x100m, men’s 4x400m, and mixed 4x400m relays.
These races are crucial, as the country aims to secure remaining qualification slots for the World Relay Championships scheduled for May in the same city.
Nigeria’s women’s 4x100m and 4x400m relay teams have already booked their places at the global event, shifting focus to the other relay squads that must now deliver strong performances in Botswana to join them.
The delegation is led by top officials of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria, including President Tonobok Okowa, Secretary General Isreal Inwang, and Technical Director Gabriel Okon.
Team Nigeria boasts a blend of emerging talents and experienced athletes expected to make a strong impact.
Among those to watch are Enaruna Anita Itohan, Badmus Gafari Atanda, Ezeakor Chidera, Emmanuel James Taiwo, Ojeli Ifeanyi Emmanuel, and George Patience Okon.
Also named in the squad are Nathaniel Samson, Adeyemi Sikiru Adewale, Sampson Victor Ime, Godwin Tejiri, Andrew Jecinter Lawrence, Chukwuka Obi Jennifer, and Omokwe Maria Thompson, all of whom have been part of an intensive preparation programme.
The athletes have spent the last six weeks training in Asaba, where they focused on sharpening race strategies, perfecting baton exchanges, and building team chemistry ahead of the decisive qualifiers.
With the World Relays serving as a gateway to global competitions, expectations are high that Team Nigeria will rise to the occasion in Botswana and secure the remaining tickets needed to complete its relay lineup for the prestigious event.
