AUNZ2023: Portugal Sends Home Vietnam with a 2-0 victory in Group E.

Maritimo Feminimo of Portugal, Telma Encarnacao aged 21 got her name in the history books of Portugal for scoring her first ever goal at the world Women’s final tournament.

 

 

Encarnacao scored 7th minute from a cross by Alves which she did not waste time to hit into the top right corner of the net in the second group E match played at the FMG Stadium, Waikato.

Benefica player, Francisca Nazareth made it double 21st minute after getting a spinning pass from Encarnacao to put it past goalkeeper Thanh of Vietnam.

Vietnam a debutante country like Portugal is now out technically from the tournament having fialed to draw or win a game, rocking the bottom of the group.

USA and Netherlands top group E table with 4 points each from two matches. Portugal is 3rd after the win over Vietnam. USA had thrashed Vietnam 3-0 and Netherlands piped Portugal by a lone goal.

We await Portugal versus Vietnam clash at the Waikato Stadium under Ref Salima Mukansanga of Rwanda at 0830 hours.

The last matches of Group E shall be played on 1st August with Portugal facing USA at Eden Park and Vietnam battling Netherlands at Forsyth Barr Stadium, Dunedin

Nigeria versus Australia also comes up at Transcorp Stadium at 1100 hours.

On Friday at 0100 hours Argentina will test the Bayana Bayana of South Africa power at the Forsyth Barr Stadium in group G. Two second round matches of group D will be decided namely England versus Denmark at the Allianz Stadium at 0930 hours before China will face Haiti at noon (1200 hours) at the Hindmarsh Stadium.
