One Trapped As Building Collapses During Demolition In Lagos
One worker has been trapped in the rubble after a storey building collapsed during manual demolition on Adedoyin Street, Ijegun, Ikotun, in the Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State.
A statement by the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, said a distress call was received about the incident at 1:44 pm on Monday, October 26, 2026. The agency said it immediately deployed its Beta Team from Igando Base to the scene.
On arrival, responders discovered that one worker was trapped beneath the debris, while another worker who sustained a hand injury had been taken to a hospital before the team’s arrival.
LASEMA said its response team, working with the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service and the Lagos State Ambulance Service, LASAMBUS, had begun a coordinated search and rescue operation. The area was cordoned off to prevent further danger, while the rescue operation remained ongoing.
The Lagos State Government said it would investigate the collapse to determine its immediate and underlying causes and ensure compliance with building control regulations.

We Lacked Freshness: Barca Coach Justifies Back-To-Back Defeats
Hansi Flick wants a swift response from Barcelona after back-to-back defeats.
Barca went down 2-1 to rivals Real Madrid in El Clasico on Sunday.
The Blaugrana had started their LaLiga campaign with nine straight wins. Had Barca won, they would have become the first team on record to win 10 successive matches at the start of a season in Europe’s top five leagues.
Flick, meanwhile, is waiting on his 100th Barca win, with the defeat to Madrid coming after a Champions League loss to Paris Saint-Germain.
And the German now wants to see a strong reaction from his team.
“Of course, we have to improve. After this defeat, we have neither arguments nor excuses,” Flick said.
“We will talk in every training session. I’m not worried. Two defeats are too many for me and for the fans; we don’t want to lose.
“Now it is important to analyse and react. For me, it is clear that we have faced an opponent with great quality, who have been perhaps better than in previous Clasicos, and we were not fresh enough.
“We have to recover well, train very well and respond to this defeat. It’s not all bad when you lose, and the road is very long until the end of the season; these things happen.
“We lacked a bit of luck; they also did well. We lacked freshness, but it’s [our] first defeat in LaLiga; we won nine in a row, and that also has to be taken into account.
“Now it’s important to analyse and react.”
Barca take on Alaves in their next LaLiga outing on Saturday.

Ekiti Kingmakers Seek Ooni’s Intervention In Suspended Alara Stool Tussle
The kingmakers of Aramoko-Ekiti, Ekiti State, have appealed to the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, to intervene in the protracted process of selecting a new Alara of Aramoko-Ekiti, which they said had remained suspended for six months.
The kingmakers, under the Alara-in-Council, urged the Ooni to prevail on Governor Biodun Oyebanji to allow them to reconvene and conclude the selection process, warning that the prolonged vacancy was affecting traditional activities and generating restiveness among youths in the community.
In a statement signed by the Head of kingmakers, Julius Oladiran Adebayo, and the Secretary, Kolade Oyebade, also known as Sajowa, the council said the intervention of the foremost Yoruba traditional ruler would help protect the community’s cultural heritage and chieftaincy traditions.
The kingmakers said the selection process began in April 2026 in accordance with the Alara of Aramoko Chieftaincy Declaration and the Ekiti State Chieftaincy Law.
According to the statement, three princes were shortlisted through Ifa divination conducted by Baba Araba Elebuibon, after which voting by the 12 kingmakers ended in a tie, with six votes each.
The council said a second round of voting was expected to resolve the deadlock but alleged that the process was suspended by the state Commissioner for Chieftaincy Affairs, leaving the community without a new traditional ruler six months after the exercise began.
“However, six months later, the process remains suspended after the Honourable Commissioner for Chieftaincy Affairs postponed it. Our letters to the government have not received a response,” the kingmakers said.
Appealing directly to the Ooni, the council described Aramoko-Ekiti as a community with deep historical and cultural ties to Ile-Ife, the ancestral home of the Yoruba people.
“As a town founded by descendants of Oduduwa, Aramoko-Ekiti shares an unbroken cultural and spiritual bond with Ile-Ife. Our customs, our crown, and our chieftaincy rites all emanate from Ife,” the statement said.
The kingmakers added that the Alara stool was more than a local traditional institution, describing it as part of the wider Yoruba cultural heritage under the spiritual and cultural influence of the Ooni.
“Kabiyesi, we are constrained to run to you as our father and the custodian of Yoruba culture. The stool of Alara remains vacant. Our youths are restive. Our traditional festivals and rites cannot hold,” they said.
They urged the Ooni to use his influence to persuade Governor Oyebanji to authorise the immediate resumption of the selection process and enable the kingmakers to complete their assignment in accordance with the law.
“We therefore beg Kabiyesi Onirisa to please use your revered office to appeal to Governor Oyebanji to kindly grant permission for the kingmakers to reconvene immediately and complete the selection,” the statement added.
The council expressed confidence that the intervention would lead to a peaceful resolution, while appealing to the governor to respect the applicable laws and traditions governing the selection of the new Alara.

Court Remands Man Over Alleged Threat To Release Abba Yusuf’s Nude Videos, Pictures
The federal high court in Abuja has remanded Sanusi Dankaka at the Kuje Correctional Centre for allegedly threatening to publish the nude videos and photographs of Abba Yusuf, governor of Kano.
Dankaka was remanded by Salim Ibrahim, the trial judge, after he was arraigned by the Department of State Services (DSS) on a two-count charge.
According to NAN, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges.
In a charge sheet marked FHC/ABJ/CR/699/2026 and filed on October 22, the DSS alleged that Dankaka committed the offences in October 2026.
The secret police alleged that the defendant claimed to possess nude videos and photographs of the Kano governor and threatened to release them to the public.
DSS also accused Dankaka of allegedly releasing the threat on his Facebook page — Sunusi Dankaka Yahaya — alongside other persons at large in Jos north LGA of Plateau state.
The DSS said the defendant allegedly published the message for the purpose of causing annoyance, inconvenience, insult and injury to the person of the governor.
The agency said the offence contravened section 27 (1)(6) of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2015, as amended, and punishable under section 24 (1) of the same Act.”
At Monday’s proceedings, Yusuf Afegbua, counsel to the DSS, said the prosecution was ready to proceed with the case.
Kauna Penzin, counsel to the defendant, also said she was ready for trial.
After the charge sheet was read to Dankaka, he pleaded not guilty.
Following the plea, Afegbua asked the court to fix a date for trial and remand the defendant in Kuje Correctional Centre. Penzin did not oppose the application.
The judge adjourned the case to December 7 for trial and ordered that Dankaka be remanded at the correctional centre.
