The Reggae Girls of Jamaica made an embarrassing goalless draw with the mighty Samba ladies of Brazil at the Melbourne Regional Stadium on Wednesday in a group F match.

The Brazilians never expected such a marvelous performance from the new comers to the world cup party who they had beaten 3-0 on 9th June 2019 at the last world cup in France. Brazil failed to reach the knockout stages for the third time in 9 appearances previous years being 1991 and 1995 but qualified for those stages in six consecutive times.

This is the 7th goalless draws in this tournament alone; there were eight goalless draws in the competition history prior to this edition.

Jamaica is the third CONCACAF side to qualify for the Knockout stages after USA and Canada.

In the first round matches, France played goalless with Jamaica and Brazil thrashed Panama 4-0. In the second round, France beat Brazil 2-1 and Panama lost by a lone goal to Jamaica.Reggae Girls

At the end of proceedings, France topped group F with 7 points from 2 wins and a draw, scoring 8 goals and conceding 4; Jamaica placed second with 5 points from a win and 2 draws scoring just a goal and conceding nothing; Brazil got 4 points winning a match, losing one and drawing one scoring 5 goals and conceding 2 while Panama who were congratulated by their opponents especially France had no point scored 3 goals and conceded 11 goals.

Thus France moves to the Round of 16 to play runners-up in group H at 12 noon on Tuesday at Hindmarsh Stadium while Jamaica will meet winners of group H same Tuesday but at 0900 hours at Melbourne Rectangular Stadium.

The last group games meant for Group H will be decided at 1100 hours tomorrow Thursday. African representative, Morocco will trade tackles with Columbia at the Perth Rectangular Stadium with Ref Maria Caputi of Italy in charge.

At the same time, South Korea that is yet to score a goal or score a point will engage the German Machine at the Lang Park Stadium also called Suncorp Stadium with New Zealand Ref Anne-Marie Keighley.
