Miscreants, Scavengers Take Over Abandoned Ogun Bridge

Residents of the Akute community in the Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State have cried out for help following the state of an abandoned bridge where refuse and illegal shanties have taken over.

Some of the residents who expressed displeasure on how the state government had abandoned the bridge questioned why it would begin the construction of such an overhead bridge in the area at all, adding that there had never been any traffic issues along the area.

Report gathered that scavengers had turned the place into their new home where they gather their waste, especially plastic before they finally moved them to their intended destination also
miscreants popularly called Area Boys have turned the place into their den at night.

However, the spokesperson for the state Ministry of Environment, Rotimi Oduniyi, assured newsmen that decisive action would be taken on the matter soon Adding that they will give them a seven-day ultimatum. After that, the ministry will clear the place.
