The Ogun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has described the reported call by the Peoples Democratic Party for a rerun of the just concluded gubernatorial election in the state as an indication that the PDP and one of its major promoters, ex-Governor Ibikunle Amosun, are “sore losers.”
The APC through its state Publicity Secretary, Tunde Oladunjoye, in a statement released in Abeokuta, said that such a call, coming barely a few minutes after the declaration of results by the Independent National Electoral Commission, could only have come from people who knew of their electoral loss well ahead.
Citing the case of the PDP agent arrested in Ado Odo-Ota by the operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, the APC noted that though it is charitable to set up a foundation in one’s late mother’s name; however, it is “most uncharitable, unacceptable, and ridiculous” to use such an otherwise good gesture as an avenue to induce voters.
They howeverurged their supporters to keep faith with them and just like their governor, be magnanimous in victory, avoid provocation, and report any threat to peace to the nearest police station.
