NSIB To Release Final Report On Port Harcourt Helicopter Crash To Be Out This Year

The Director General of the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB), Capt Alex Badeh Jr, says the final report on the October 24, 2024 helicopter crash that occurred in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, will be released before the end of 2025.

Badeh Jr said on Channels Television’s Newsnight programme on Monday said that “we’ve gotten to the bottom of it. The final report should be out sometime this year but we pretty much have an idea of what happened,”

The helicopter with registration 5NBQG, operated by East Wind Aviation and engaged by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), crashed along the waterways in Port Harcourt.

The copter took off from Port Harcourt Military Base (DNPM) with its destination as the FPSO – NUIMS ANTAN oil rig. A total of eight persons were confirmed on board (two crew members and six passengers) but five bodies were recovered.

Eight persons, including two crew members and six passengers, were onboard. Only five bodies were recovered following the tragic incident.
